We present the calculated valence-band photoelectron spectra for the s
uperconducting Bi2Sr2CuO6, Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 and YBa2Cu3O7 thin films at p
hoton energies of 21.2-70 eV. Angle-integrated photoelectron spectra w
ere calculated using the single-scatterer final-state approximation an
d results of a local-density linearized augmented-plane-wave band-stru
cture calculation for thin films. Film geometry immediately takes into
