Abstract
Copper(I)-catalysed addition of methyl Grignard reagent to the propagy l diol 8, which was efficiently prepared from S-malic acid, proceeds w ith a perfect E stereoselectivity, the diol thus obtained being then c onvened into the title fragment by know methodology.
