Alanine ESR dosimetry presents a great interest for quality controls i
n radiotherapy. This new developped water Equivalent alanine dosimeter
allows a reproducible dose measurement, by a non-destructif readout t
echnique in a large dose range. In this paper the stability of the dos
imeter response has been shown but also its independance with the ener
gy or the dose rate of the absorbed radiation. Through this different
studies, one can broaden the application field of alanine / ESR dosime
try especially for in-vivo dosimetry. The results of the experiments a
nd the intra operative treatment, indicate that this kind of dosimetry
seems to be a promising technique for in-vivo quality controls in ele
ctron beam, gamma ray or X ray radiotherapy.
