K. Johnsoncartee et al., EXAMINING THE DEMISE OF THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN COALITION, Harvard international journal of press/politics, 3(2), 1998, pp. 34-54
This study examines the philosophical battle waged within the National
Republican Party between the Old Liberals and the Conservative Right
during the 1992 acid 1996 presidential campaigns, which ultimately den
ied the presidential nominees' electoral victory. It is suggested that
the Republican Party will not regain the presidency until the delegat
e-selection process for Republican presidential campaign conventions i
s altered to encourage moderate delegate selection, which would result
in a more palatable national image.
