Ta. Petrie et Dl. Falkstein, METHODOLOGICAL, MEASUREMENT, AND STATISTICAL ISSUES IN RESEARCH ON SPORT INJURY PREDICTION, Journal of applied sport psychology, 10(1), 1998, pp. 26-45
In this paper, methodological, measurement and statistical issues rega
rding research in sport injury prediction are discussed. Particular at
tention is paid to how future research might be conducted (i.e., resea
rch design), the measurement of physical and psychological constructs
(e.g., injury, life stress), and different approaches concerning stati
stical analyses of prospective data. In summary, recommendations conce
rning future research are offered, including: obtaining multiple measu
res of predictors across athletic seasons, examining moderator variabl
es (e.g., social support, playing status), and using prospective resea
rch designs.
