Abstract
Various pyrometallurgical methods for tl-eating ilmenite and zircon co ncentrates ar-e reviewed. Laboratory experiments using a thermal plasm a reactor were performed to evaluate the conversions of ilmenite to Ti C or TiC-Fe and zircon to ZrC or ZrC-SiC. Results ar-e examined and po ssible processing routes ar-e identified.
