JIMENEZIN, A NOVEL ANNONACEOUS ACETOGENIN FROM THE SEEDS OF ROLLINIA-MUCOSA CONTAINING ADJACENT TETRAHYDROFURAN-TETRAHYDROPYRAN RING-SYSTEMS

A new cytotoxic acetogenin, jimenezin (1), containing a hydroxylated t etrahydropyran ring along with an adjacent tetrahydrofuran ring and re presenting a novel carbon skeleton, was isolated from the seeds of Rol linia mucosa. The structure was elucidated by means of chemical and sp ectral methods including MS and NMR measurements. Compound 1 exhibited potent cytotoxic activity against six human solid tumor cell lines.
