Abstract
The origin of diffraction peaks observed at low wave vector in many co mplex glasses remains a central issue in the understanding of amorphou s structures. In this work a combination of neutron and x-ray diffract ion is used to correlate the contributions from the different atom pai r correlations to such peaks in rubidium germanate glasses. The inform ation obtained is compared with structural data on glasses of similar compositions from other techniques, structures of corresponding crysta lline compounds, and results from computer simulation of analogous sys tems.
