Abstract
Our general model of Web publishing traces the path of items from auth or to delivery. As a bottom-up approach to implementing publications, we describe the use of high-level scripting languages that embody publ ishing concepts and procedures. Languages can be implemented by combin ing an interpreter with appropriate Libraries (ie. written in Perl). A top-down approach involves extending the SGML/DSSSL standards to defi ne the features and processes associated with classes of publications, (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
