Some basic assumptions made by the present author in his work about c-
axis transport in layered cuprates are examined on simple models. Firs
t, a one-dimensional model is considered with a localized center sligh
tly displaced from the middle df the barrier in order to find out whet
her this displacement prevents resonant tunneling. Second, a three-dim
ensional model is analyzed with two resonant centers in the median pla
ne; the goal is to establish whether tunneling through such centers ca
n be coherent. The results provide support for the basic assumptions.
