Abstract
Thrombolysis is advocated as the treatment of choice for hemodynamical ly important pulmonary embolism. This paper reports the case of a pati ent with subacute massive pulmonary embolism in which thrombolysis was not considered appropriate because transesophageal echocardiography d emonstrated a patent foramen ovale and impending paradoxical embolism.
