The specific heat C-m of the magnetic subsystem of reentrant ferrimagn
ets Li0.5Fe2.5-xGaxO4 with x = 0.9 and 1.2 is investigated in the temp
erature range 1.9-22 K. It is found that, in the low-temperature regio
n of this interval, C-m is a linear function of temperature, while the
dependence C-m similar to T-3/2 is observed for T > 11 K. Possible me
chanisms responsible for such a behavior are discussed. (C) 1998 Ameri
