Abstract
In this overview of the Special Issue on Environmentally Friendly Prod ucts and Manufacturing Technologies, I would like to consider briefly a number of trends that come out as manufacturers advance successively in the direction of more environmentally friendly activities, and to place the seven technical papers appearing here within the context of those trends.
