DEVELOPMENT OF BEACON PAGER

We have newly developed a data pager called ''BEACON'' that is a low-e nd information mobile device based on pager. BEACON is operated on sof tware which NEC has developed with Microsoft Corporation, U.S.A. It is a pager compatible with FLEX parallel to that is a de facto standard of high-speed paging signal in the U.S. market. In addition to its bas ic functions as a pager, BEACON has a Personal Information Manager (PI M) function that manages information such as schedules, addresses, etc . BEACON has an infrared communication feature. It has the capability of customizing the pager function: using dedicated software in Persona l Computers (PCs), installing the application on BEACON, downloading d ata from PIM software running on PC, and uploading the receiving messa ge.
