Abstract
This paper offers a general discussion on martensitic transformations with an emphasis on the iron-carbon alloys. The ''invariant plane'' de scription approach is analyzed in addition to discussion on non-ideal martensitic shapes and the structure of martensite-its effects and int eractions.
