Background: The combination of electro-oculogram (EOG) and Farnsworth
100 hue (F-100) testing is assessed for the early detection of hydroxy
chloroquin toxicity. Methods: We reviewed the records of 522 patients
receiving hydroxychloroquin. Baseline and annual EOG and F100 tests we
re done with a complete eye exam. Results: An abnormal EOG and F100 oc
cured in 15 patients (3%). No patient developed premaculopathy without
showing both EOG and F100 abnormalities. Conclusion: Combined EOG and
F100 testing may he an effective way to screen for hydroxychloroquin
toxicity.
