Abstract
Interferometric noise in fiber-optic grating sensors is investigated. Interference between a signal wave and reflected waves causes signal f luctuation in the output that limits the wavelength detection accuracy of the sensing system. The measurement error limited by interferometr ic noise is calculated for both reflective-type and transmission-type sensors. (C) 1998 Optical Society of America.
