Abstract
The activated alkyne MeO2CC=CCO2Me reacts at low temperature with the cluster complexes [Pt-3(mu-CO)(3)L-3], L = PCy3, and [Pt-6(mu-CO)(6)(m u-dppm)(3)], 4, to give 1:1 complexes [Pt-3(CO)(3)L-3(MeO2CC=CCO2 Me)] , L = PCy3, and [Pt-6(mu-CO)(6)(mu- dppm)(3)(MeO2CC=CCO2Me)], which un dergo cluster fragmentation on warming to room temperature to yield th e binuclear complexes[Pt-2(CO)(2)L-2(mu-MeO2CC=CCO2Me)] and [Pt-2(CO)( 2)(mu-dppm)(mu-MeO2CC=CCO2Me)], respectively.
