Abstract
The compound PrBa2Cu4O8 were prepared under ambient oxygen pressure. I ts structure of PrBa2Cu4O8 has been refined from X-ray powder diffract ion data by the Rietveld method. The major phase of the product were c onfirmed to be PrBa2Cu4O8, with four minor impurity phases confirmed. The multiphase refinement process determines weight fractions of all t he phases. Refined cell parameters of PrBa2Cu4O8 in the orthorhombic s pace group Ammm, are: a = 3.8901(1)Angstrom b = 3.9041(2)Angstrom, and c = 27.3219(1)Angstrom. Characterization of this compound by electric al resistivity and magnetization are also reported.
