Abstract
A first thermo-optical characterisation of a new type of polymer dispe rsed liquid crystal is presented. An experimental study on the transmi ttivity as a function of the temperature show a temperature switch bas ed on an optically bistable device. Our results suggest the possibilit y of employing such a material to realise all-optical temperature sens ors. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
