Abstract
The inert soluble COD fraction of a bravery wastewater, in which almos t all COD was present in soluble form, was determined under anaerobic conditions by two different methods. The results indicated that the wa stewater contained practically no inert soluble COD. The anaerobic dig estion process was found to generate inert soluble microbial byproduct s, with a yield of approximately 0.04 kg inert soluble COD kg(-1) solu ble COD utilised. The two methods applied gave similar results.
