Abstract
We broaden the linewidth of an external cavity diode laser using frequ ency-shifted feedback from an intracavity acousto-optic modulator. The configuration employed allows for wider tunability than has been prev iously reported, allowing for easy tuning to the D1 or D2 line of Rb-8 5 and Rb-87. We demonstrate the usefulness of the lasts for optical pu mping of Zeeman-split lines in the kilogauss regime. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
