Abstract
We demonstrate that the interferometric surface-third-harmonic-generat ion autocorrelation function from the glass/air interface of a coversl ip can be used conveniently to characterize ultrashort pulses in a hig h numerical aperture system. This technique has been used with pulses < 20-fs in duration, demonstrating its applicability to pulse duration s in this regime. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
