Abstract
Recently, several genes have been cloned that affect plant architectur e: CLAVATA1, which controls the balance between maintenance and organo genesis in the meristem; CUC2, which separates organ primordia in the meristem; and teosinte branched 1 and cycloidea, which use growth supp ression to cause morphological change.
