Simple two-dimensional (2-D) wavelet systems are used in a moment meth
od to analyze a microstrip discontinuity. This allows one to efficient
ly compress the impedance matrix. The achievable sparsity is discussed
for different resolution depths where up to 85% was obtained for an e
rror below 1%.
