The braconid wasp genus Yelicones Cameron from Africa and the Arabian
Peninsula is revised. Eight species are recognized. Four new species a
re described: Y. africana and Y. gessi from South Africa; Y. minutus f
rom Nigeria; Y: nigromaculatus from the Seychelles and South Africa. Y
elicones vojnitsi Papp, originally described from Tanzania, is recorde
d from Oman, Egypt, Niger, Senegal, Kenya, Namibia and South Africa; i
ntraspecific variation is documented. Yelicones divaricatus Papp, orig
inally described from Kenya, is recorded from Niger; Y: elegans Papp,
originally described from Tanzania, is recorded from Nigeria and South
Africa. An identification key is provided.
