Ce. Quist et al., GASTROINTESTINAL ULCERATION AND PULMONARY ASPERGILLOSIS IN A LLAMA TREATED FOR PARELAPHOSTRONGYLOSIS, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 212(9), 1998, pp. 1438
Infection with Parelaphostrongylus tenuis, a parasite of white-tailed
deer, can cause neurologic abnormalities in llamas. Gastrointestinal u
lceration and pulmonary aspergillosis may develop secondarily in llama
s with chronic disease. Treatment of gastrointestinal ulceration in ll
amas is difficult, because efficacy of commonly used antiulcer drugs h
as not been established for this species.
