S. Mauricetison et al., HOW TO IMPROVE RECOGNITION AND DIAGNOSIS OF DEPRESSIVE SYNDROMES USING INTERNATIONAL DIAGNOSTIC-CRITERIA, British journal of general practice, 48(430), 1998, pp. 1245-1246
International diagnostic criteria for depression have been elabored in
order to standardize and to facilitate diagnostic assessment. The fin
dings of the present survey suggest that general practitioners (GPs) d
o accurately assess the individual depressive symptoms required to ful
fill international diagnostic criteria for depressive syndromes. Train
ing GPs to use these diagnostic criteria may be a way of improving rec
ognition and diagnosis of depression in general practice.
