Sa. Krasny et al., WHOLE-BODY HYPERTHERMIA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RENAL-CARCINOMA PATIENTSWITH METASTASES IN REGIONAL LYMPH-NODES, Eksperimental'naa onkologia, 20(1), 1998, pp. 66-70
The outcome of treatment was studied in 89 renal carcinoma patients wi
th metastases in regional lymph nodes and without distant metastases o
r invasion of vena cava inferior. After radical surgery patients were
exposed to the whole-body hyperthermia treatment including hyperglycem
ia and adriamycin chemotherapy. The effect of this schedule was compar
ed to that of surgical and combined modality treatment with radiothera
py. A five-year survival of patients exposed to thermochemotherapy tre
atment was 60.9%, as compared with 5.4% in those subjected to surgery
alone (P < 0.001).
