Abstract
The examination of 59,371 pig carcases in slaughterhouses revealed tha t 10% were classified as unfit because of the detection of Mycobacteri a spp in mesenteric lymph nodes. The importance of this finding is dis cussed. The results indicate that peat is a significant source of infe ction, especially when peat is used as a supplement the treatment of d iarrhoeal disease in pigs.
