EQUATION FOR THE VOLUME MAGNETIC-SUSCEPTIBILITY OF MOIST AIR

The volume magnetic susceptibility of moist air chi(m)(ma) is needed t o correct the results of certain experiments to vacuum conditions. Thi s paper derives an appropriate equation for chi(m)(ma) for which press ure, temperature, relative humidity, and carbon dioxide content are va riable parameters. The derived equation also depends sensitively on th e molar susceptibility of oxygen, for which the handbook values are in consistent by about 1.4%. The equation resolves this discrepancy in pa rt.
