Abstract
This paper presents a new approach for the dynamic simulation of linea r chromatographic processes, in particular the Simulated Moving Bed (S MB) process. The main goal of this work was;the development of a compu tationally efficient model for the purpose of model based process cont rol. The approach is based on a closed form solution of the model equa tions considering both axial dispersion and mass transfer resistance. Simulation studies of this new approach in comparison with a conventio nal simulation approach and an ideal equilibrium model are shown and t he results are compared with respect to complexity, accuracy and compu tation time.
