Ba. Tuekam et al., PRIMARY EPITOPES OF CHICKEN EGG-YOLK ANTIBODIES TO PEPTIDOPHOSPHOGALACTOMANNAN, Clinical and diagnostic laboratory immunology, 5(3), 1998, pp. 404-406
Egg yolks from hens immunized with peptidophosphogalactomannan (pPGalM
an(ii)), which contains 10 phosphocholine diester residues and is secr
eted by Penicillium fellutanum, contain antibodies against 5-O-beta-D-
galactofuranosyl epitopes. These epitopes were the only significant de
terminants in pPGalMan(ii). Approximately 60-fold less pPGalMan(ii) (1
.6 mu M galactofuran chains) was required for 50% inhibition than gala
ctofurano-oligosaccharides or pPGalMan containing two galactofuranosyl
residues per chain.
