Mm. Lipovsky et al., EFFECT OF CYTOKINES ON ANTICRYPTOCOCCAL ACTIVITY OF HUMAN MICROGLIAL CELLS, Clinical and diagnostic laboratory immunology, 5(3), 1998, pp. 410-411
The effect of selected cytokines on the antifungal activity of human m
icroglia was studied with encapsulated and acapsular strains of Crypto
coccus neoformans. None of the cytokines tested increased the fungista
tic activity of microglia, suggesting that killing of cryptococci with
in the central nervous system is dependent on other host defense mecha
nisms.
