Abstract
Larval hatching rate and timing of hatching was examined under differe nt illumination conditions in the bushcricket Poecilimon veluchianus R amme 1930. Constant light inhibited hatching. Hatching was triggered b y lights on and by about 12 hours scotophase. Thus, there seem to be t wo independent mechanisms that influence the timing of hatching.
