Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance has been observed on CuGeO3 in ultrahi
gh magnetic fields up to 180 T. The distinct exchange splitting is fou
nd between the two inequivalent Cu2+ sites along the b axis. Analyzing
the data on the basis of a simple two-spin model, we evaluated the in
terchain exchange coupling J(b) as similar to 0.9 meV. This value is a
little smaller than J(b) similar to 1.0 meV obtained by neutron-scatt
ering experiments. [S0163-1829(98)06917-3].
