Abstract
Single-crystal synchrotron x-ray diffraction has been performed on sol id (LiH)-Li-7 up to 36 GPa and solid (LiD)-Li-7 up to 94 Cpa in helium as a hydrostatic medium. The rocksalt structure is stable up to the m aximum pressure. An isotopic shift on the equation of state (EOS) is c learly measured and its magnitude falls in between various approximati ons of the contribution of the zero-point lattice-vibrations. Finally, the EOS of LiH is compared to calculations and to the EOS of its isoe lectronic solid, He. [S0163-1829(98)08417-3].
