Objective. A short time ago at what was formerly Thys sen Stahl AG, a
process-oriented plant management approach was adopted which led to st
ructural changes of the ''Plant Management'' technical services provid
er for facilities planning and maintenance. The ''Thyssen Krupp Stahl'
' merger is influencing this process of change with new tasks and a ne
w general framework. Summary. The ''Plant Management'' business from f
ormerly Thyssen Stahl AG is currently being integrated with ''Technica
l Services'' of erstwhile Krupp Hoesch Stahl BG into a service provide
r for the new company as a whole. The aim is to offer complete service
packages for technical plant management to the production facilities
at all the operating sites through a customer-oriented, realigned ''Pl
ant Management'' business. Its technical services will also take accou
nt of modern technology, without which an economical production facili
ty is hardly imaginable nowadays. The example of ''the newly construct
ed Schwelgern 2 high-capacity blast furnace'' illustrates the successf
ul use of state-ofthe-art communications and information technology in
a blast furnace plant.
