Abstract
We develop an extension of the Kaplan-Meier estimator for the case of multiple live states. The method can be used to construct prognostic c harts for tracking individuals initially in a given condition. It is a lso the key component in constructing a longitudinal version of the mu ltistate life table. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
