Sv. Shalaev et al., HYPOLIPIDEMIC PROPERTIES OF SOLUBLE DIETA RY-FIBERS (PECTIN) IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC-HEART-DISEASE, Kardiologia, 38(3), 1998, pp. 26-29
Effects of soluble dietary fibers on plasma lipids and lipoproteins we
re studied in patients with different forms of ischemic heart disease
(myocardial infarction, stable angina pectoris). Enrichment of a diet
with fibers decreased total cholesterol and triglycerides by 13,2 and
26,6%, respectively); while changes of low and high density lipoprotei
n cholesterol were not significant. Lipid lowering effect of pectin wa
s not related to hypolipidemic diet or to limitation of consumed calor
ies, In patients with history of myocardial infarction enrichment of a
diet with soluble fibers facilitated better adaptation to hypocaloric
nutrition in patients with excessive body mass or obesity.
