Based on boundary layer renewal, an approximate analysis was carried o
ut for the heat transfer from a discrete heat source on a solid wall t
o the liquid near an oscillating air/liquid interface and an interface
undergoing wave movement. The heat transfer coefficients predicted by
the simple analysis are in good agreement with previously reported ex
perimental results on air/water as well as results using the air/50% p
ropylene glycol aqueous solution systems. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Lt
