J. Liebowitz et al., THE ROLE OF KNOWLEDGE-BASED SYSTEMS IN SERVING AS THE INTEGRATIVE MECHANISM ACROSS DISCIPLINES, Computers & industrial engineering, 34(2), 1998, pp. 559-564
Knowledge-based systems (KBS) technology is a critical technology, esp
ecially for enhancing productivity and preserving knowledge in times o
f reengineering and downsizing of organizations. Many people have look
ed at KBS as simply tools or decision aids. However, we feel that KBS
and the knowledge engineering process have much greater implications.
This paper describes how KBS could be used as an integrative mechanism
across disciplines. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
