PREPARATION AND REACTIVITY OF CYCLOPENTADIENYLDICARBONYLIRON-SILYL COMPLEXES

A series of compounds of the type FpSi(X)R-2, [Fp = (eta 5-C5H5)Fe(CO) (2)], where R = Me, Ph; and X = H, OMe, OEt, Br, Cl, and F have been p repared. Reaction of Fp anion with the readily available chlorosilanes , Cl(H)SiMe2 and Cl(H)SiPh2, yields compounds FpSiMe(2)(H) and FpSiPh( 2)(H) respectively. Reactions of these two compounds with carbon tetra chloride, carbon tetrabromide, alcohols, and tetrafluoroborate salts l ead to substitution at silicon.
