COMPUTER-AUGMENTED ENDOSCOPIC SINUS SURGERY

Review of current literature on computer-augmented endoscopic sinus su rgery reflects a sustained interest in developing a role for available frameless stereotactic technologies to provide image guidance for the surgeon. The interest is motivated by the prospect of increased intra operative patient safety in that image guidance assists the surgeon in navigating through diseased or surgically revised complex anatomy. Th e authors feel that in time the technique will enable a new level of e fficiency in endoscopic sinus surgery.
