AIR-SEA FLUX ESTIMATES FROM SATELLITE-OBSERVATIONS

Bulk aerodynamic parameterisation is described for estimation of laten t and sensible heat fluxes, with the method to obtain the near surface specific humidity, sea surface temperature (SST), near surface air te mperature etc., by space borne observations. The accuracy of these par ameters on the estimation of these fluxes is also given. The monthly v ariation of these fluxes by microwave radiometers like SSM/I are expla ined. The evaporation estimate as based on these satellite parameters is assessed by comparison with ship observations. Sensible heat exchan ge is also estimated and assessed.
