Numerical models are presented for tidal flow and salinity in the Hoog
hly estuary, along the east coast of India. A depth-averaged numerical
model coupled with a one-dimensional model is discussed. The model ha
s been validated with the available observations for the dry and wet s
easons. The influence of storm surges on the circulation is also discu
ssed in this section. A multi-level laterally averaged model for the e
stuary is also described. The vertical structure of the currents and s
alinity are validated with spring observations during both wet and dry
seasons.
