Abstract
Numerical experiments have been performed using the baroclinic 3-dimen sional coastal ocean model. The model is used to simulate the coastal circulation off east coast of India. The driving mechanism consists, i n general, of wind stress forcing representative of that applying duri ng the premonsoon, monsoon and postmonsoon seasons. The simulations ar e in good agreement with observation on upwelling/downwelling off Visa khapatnam during different seasons.
