Abstract
Self-assembly of polymer/clay (PDDA-Cl/Na-montmorillonite) nanofilms ( 1-5 nm) was studied by surface plasmon spectroscopy (SPS). In order to better understand the formation of these films, the adsorption of pol yelectrolyte on clay in bulk was analysed and the thickness of the fil ms formed by the effect of various potentials applied in the course of adsorption was studied. It is indicated by the isotherm that ion exch ange adsorption and, consequently, electrostatic attraction are import ant driving forces of film formation.
