Abstract
Polyethyleneterephthalate, polyacrylonitrile and cellulose polymers we re heat treated at various temperature values between 750-1200 degrees C in nitrogen atmosphere. The specific surface area, the porosity and the immersional enthalpy measured with methanol and benzene were foll owed concurrently. The cellulose and the polyethyleneterephthalate bas ed chars show similar properties, as it was found recently from their adsorption from binary liquid mixtures as well. The highly developed p olycondensed carbon network of the polyacrylonitrile derived char at 1 200 degrees C is very obvious from the heat of immersion values.
