Neurocysticercosis is an infection of the central nervous system by th
e larvae of the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. Worldwide it represents t
he commonest parasitic infection of the central nervous system. Howeve
r, in Australia, only a small number of cases have been previously rec
ognized. Three cases of neurocysticercosis are reported which illustra
te a variety of presentations and diagnostic problems encountered. Wit
h the introduction of effective chemotherapeutic agents, current medic
